Journals to be removed from Scopus in May 2024
Various publications are regularly removed from the Scopus database. In May, an audit was conducted, as a result of which several more journals were excluded. We have prepared this list to help authors avoid problems with publications and indexing in the Scopus database.

Reasons for excluding journals from Scopus:

Failure to comply with the principles of scientific ethics on page seo service and academic integrity.
Fraud.
Lack of relevance of materials.
Questionable publication activity.
Lack of relevance of materials.
Changes in the subject matter and direction of the journal.

How to avoid publishing in a journal that may be removed from Scopus?

Before submitting an article for consideration to the journal editors, it is necessary to familiarize yourself with the journal in detail. The author should pay attention to some criteria and indicators that may indicate that the journal may be excluded from the Scopus database.

What should you pay attention to?

Publication activity

High publication activity in a journal may indicate its dubious activities. Since publication in Scopus is paid and requires contributions from authors, some publications may use this as a way to make money.

For example, if before indexing in the Scopus database a journal published 8 articles per issue 4 times a year, and after indexing it began to be published monthly with a doubling or tripling of the number of articles per issue, this may be an alarming signal.

Therefore, we recommend that authors research and analyze the activity of the publication before and after indexing in Scopus in order to avoid possible errors and unsuccessful publications.

Subject of the magazine and relevance of the material

It is important to pay attention to the topics and areas of research that the journal publishes, as well as the compliance of the published material with the stated topics and areas. If the journal is only focused on making money, it may begin to publish research that does not correspond to the stated areas on the publication's website.

Such actions may indicate the publication's dishonesty and low scientific reputation. Before publication, authors should carefully evaluate the publication activity and compliance with the subject of the publication in order to avoid publication in questionable or unworthy publications.

Quick review and acceptance of the article

If the publication quickly confirms acceptance of your article for further publication (1-3 weeks), this may indicate insufficient quality of manuscript review. Such speed may violate the editorial policy of the publication and lead to its exclusion from the Scopus database.

It is important to remember that rapid review and peer review for databases such as Scopus is almost impossible. This process usually takes from 2 to 6 months and depends on the workload of the journal, its specifics, the readiness of your material and other factors.
